Winemaker Ryan Puttick's favourite picks for Spring!
Franschhoek Cellar is launching its eagerly anticipated Wine Club this month, which will offer members exclusive offers and the inside scoop. For September, all new wine club members will be treated to a selection of must-have Spring wines only available from the cellar door.
In winter the chilly weather forced winemaker Ryan indoors, but since spring has arrived he loves to explore fresh and lighter style wines, and he has selected his favourite for this season to share with Wine Club members. First up is The Club House Rose, this crisp and dry Rosé is made in a classic Provençal style, with a hint of sweetness and fresh acidity. An appealing pink-tinged colour with beautiful sweet red berries and cherries tinged with discreet spice. A juicy palate leads to a soft, dry finish.
Ryan's second favourite is The Stone Bridge Pinotage. It is named after the bridge on the picturesque Franschhoek mountain pass, built in 1825. Brimming with exuberant mulberry and plum flavours, it has soft ripe tannins that provide a well-structured and balanced savoury finish.
Both of these wines are perfect for enjoying outdoors or at a braai and are perfect partners to light smoked salmon and chicken dishes. You can even serve up a delicious rich roast lamb or gammon dish. Buy five bottles of the Stone Bridge Pinotage and/or The Club House Rose and get one free when you join Franschhoek Cellar's Wine Club during the month of September.
